Water Polo at South Eugene is a club sport, and is administered and organized by a volunteer parent board.   Club Sports are self funded through fees and fundraising, and does not receive financial support from the school.  This is common for almost all water polo teams in Oregon.

South Eugene Water Polo is in the Southern League, and plays league games at Amazon Pool and throughout the Willamette Valley.  South also attends 2-3 tournaments each season - tournaments are generally in Portland and require overnight stays.

New players are always welcome - many of the players start playing water polo in high school (different from many high school sports), and South Eugene does not require try-outs of joining the water polo team.  Players do need to know how to swim, and at a minimum should be able to do several laps without stopping.

South practices twice a day throughout the season at Amazon Pool and dry land/weight training at the high school.  The morning practice is from 6-7:30am and the afternoon practice is from 3:45-5:45pm.    Games are at 4pm and 5pm on weekdays and there are also some weekend games.  Practices start the middle of August (Daily doubles) and the season ends the middle of November.

“My favorite aspect of this team is how we are all very close, and buddies with each other.”

“It’s great meeting new people . . . It’s a new experience . . . I have never tried this sport before. All the people are so nice with me even if I’m not good.”
